Identify the direction and working face.
N and S label north and south poles. Arrows show internal magnetization from S toward N, not external field lines. Colors identify polarity and are not a measured field map.
Put polarity requirements on the drawing.
Example: magnetize through thickness t; the designated mating face is N; apply an N-face dot mark. Specify dimensions, tolerances, magnetic requirements and marking location separately. This is a notation example, not a product specification.
| Specify | Review |
|---|---|
| Direction and pole face | Identify the dimension axis, view or mating face and N/S polarity. |
| Pole count and registration | For multipole designs, specify count, pitch, reference features and phase. |
| Marking and delivery | Specify pole marking, location, magnetized/unmagnetized delivery and assembly sequence. |
Review sequence: working face → axis and polarity → pole count and registration → marking and delivery.
